Sungai Mengkabong

Sungai Mengkabong is not a very well known destination in Sabah despite the place offers fantastic view of Mt. Kinabalu. In fact, the location is not even marked in google map or iOS map. The perfect view is situated exactly on a bridge at Jalan Sulaman.

You just have to search 'Jalan Sulaman', find the river and position it facing Kinabalu National Park. The drive is about 40 minutes from Kota Kinabalu City without traffic jam. That means if you want to catch the sunrise (sunrise in KK is about 6.00am-6.30am), you will have to start journey by 5.15am. I heard that the sunset view is great too (no view of the sun though) but I have not journeyed there yet for sunset.

And this breaktaking view is taken during dusk to sunrise.

The sun is still a bit shy, but you can see the sun rays shining for another new day.

The sun finally showing itself. Clear view of the mountain means another good day ahead.

Panoramic view of the viewing bridge. Bridge is not a pedestrian bridge, so you have to stay at the side and watch out for zooming cars.
